Electronics training for First time boater to First Responder
With the number of boat sales in recent years and a constant flow of new hires Tom saw a need for himself to carry on and to share his knowledge, thus Waypoint Navigation Training was born. From first time boater to first responder, Tom can provide the information needed to be proficient with today’s marine electronics.
Thomas Pitasi
Tom Pitasi has been in the marine electronics business for over twenty years. In 1995 Tom was hired by the Greenwich CT Fire Dept. In 1997 Tom started Coastal Fishing Charters, a few years later Raymarine became the lead sponsor for the business. During his time at GFD Tom was always doing boat shows, trainings or fishing tournaments for Raymarine on his off days. In 2016 Tom retired from GFD at the request of Raymarine and started full time as the Pro Staff Manager and moved up the ranks.
In 2016 the United States Coast Guard chose Raymarine as their provider of choice for SINS 2 Navigation System provider. This opened a new area of business with first responders who had marine assists and needed or wanted to be compliant with the USCG. Tom was instrumental in bringing a sole source provider contract from New York City that included FDNY & NYPD. Tom also brought in most all the agencies in the Northeast that are currently are using Raymarine. With all this business came a need for training and once again it was Tom who was the subject matter expert. To date Tom has trained well over 100 different agencies accounting for thousands of first responders including FDNY, NYPD, CT State PD, CT DEEP, The Port Of Virginia (39 different agencies) and many more.
Tom’s expertise with marine electronics and experience as a first responder along with thousands of hours on the water as a charter captain make him a one of only a handful of people who poses the knowledge your department needs.
